Holistic
We refuse to treat food, health, housing, energy and waste as separate problems. Instead, we build integrated hubs where farming, clinics, schools, social housing and small enterprises support one another.

Economic
Our projects are designed as profit-for-purpose businesses. Farmers, clinics and service providers are part of functioning value chains that generate income, create jobs and reduce long-term dependence on grant funding.

Revolutionary
We challenge the traditional view of large, resource-intensive farms. Our models employ intensive, climate-smart methods and new technologies on smaller pieces of land, demonstrating that small-scale agriculture can sustain families and support local economies.
HER MODEL
Who we are...
HER Model is a South African company that designs holistic, economic and revolutionary models for agriculture, healthcare and community development across Africa. We focus especially on small-scale farmers and the food system that surrounds them, because agriculture shapes food and nutrition security, health, productivity and human capital in every community.
We work through partnerships.
Together with partners from South Africa and global companies in Thailand, America, Canada, Japan, the UK and Germany, we bring new technologies and intellectual property into African farming communities. Intensive, climate-smart farming methods, green technologies and practical skills help people produce more food with fewer resources while protecting water, soil and energy.
We are a profit-with-purpose business.
HER Model sits at the intersection of social investment and strong commercial performance. We create social and environmental impact through agriculture, affordable housing, employment, education, environmental conservation, energy, financial inclusion and skills development; and we do this within projects that are financially sound. For our partners, capital does more than generate returns; it backs real enterprises that create jobs, secure food and nutrition, strengthen health security and support sustainable resource use.
Our model is built to scale.
We focus on training and skills development from school level into adulthood, agricultural academies and exchange programmes, and a “holding-hands” franchise approach that surrounds commercial anchor farms with networks of supported small-scale farmers. We recycle water, energy and waste; integrate aquaculture, crop and animal production, agro-processing and renewable energy; and commercialise the full food system so that projects can be replicated and scaled. Our long-term vision is to develop intensive farming technologies with a small to zero carbon footprint and include small-scale farmers from South Africa and the wider continent in food systems that are both sustainable and financially viable.

How the HER Model works in practice...
We combine intensive vegetable production, aquaponics, poultry, small livestock and processing so that communities can secure food and nutrition locally.
Commercial anchor farms, shared infrastructure, and off-take agreements connect small-scale farmers to reliable markets and income.
Youth, students and farmers receive practical training, mentorship and enterprise support that leads to real roles and businesses.
Clinics, wellness services and nutrition programmes are linked to local farms so that food, health and mental wellbeing reinforce each other.
Affordable housing and student accommodation are placed close to farms, skills centres and clinics to create compact, live-work-learn communities.
Solar, water treatment and recycling systems close the loop on waste and reduce operating costs for communities and partners.
Each site is a living lab with clear revenue models, performance data and measurable social outcomes for investors, policymakers and partners.
